Week 15

This week my classmates and I started the presentations about the tools of Web 2.0. I could learn how to use certain tools in order to teach English. As for example: Twitter may be used to interchange any kind of information with people who do not live near to you. All my classmates taught us how to use each tool in order to create activities that can help us to involve our students in a better way into the learning process. On the other hand, the rest of the class had to pay attention in order to identify the possible problems that we could face when we use these tools, and obviously, we had to give a solution. Also, I learnt that these kinds of tools can give you the opportunity to keep information that you can use later in your classes. This information may be used to support the learning of our students by showing videos, making presentations online, and taking quizzes as well. Finally, I think that the use of technology can change the method of teaching English by involving and motivating students in a collaborative way.

Week 14

In that week we did not have internet access that is why we could not be able to view a new topic, however, our teacher did not waste her time, because she gave us some useful advises that can help us to manage a class without complication. I think that that class was very interesting because she told us the things that she had to face when she began teaching, and obviously, we all are going to face someday. Also, as future educators there are a lot of things to keep in mind in order to success in our classes. Our teacher told us that the respect can be considered the key in Education, because it may allow us to create a good atmosphere where students and teachers can work focused on the same purpose.

Week 13

That week I was able to learn how to use a new program called “Prezi”. This program is almost the same as Power point, because it allows us to make presentations. Our teacher taught us some ways to use this program to teach in class. She showed us how we can add pictures from our computer or from the net. The process was really easy and I think that everybody can do it. Besides, it gives that change to add videos from the net. The only thing that you need to do is to copy the URL of the video and paste it in your prezi. Also, you can use paths which help you to give a sequence to your presentation. I am sure that everybody can be able to master the use of it. On the other hand, I learnt another kind of blogs that can be used in the classroom. As for example: we have the personal blog that almost everybody uses to share information with others and gives comments. Besides, the game blog is a space where people who enjoy playing video games may download and upload them. At the end we have the Educational blog. This is used especially by teachers in order to promote the interchange of ideas, thoughts, and experiences among students.

Week 12

During that week I was able to learn more about certain tools that we can find in Web 2.0. Some of the most known are Google docs, YouTube, Blogger, and Facebook. Those tools have changed the way to teach English in an innovative aspect. I mean that thanks to them everyone can be able to share information with others; it does not matter where anyone is. One example may be the use of Facebook in order to promote the interchange of thoughts, ideas, and experiences with people who live in a foreign country. Moreover, the use of YouTube has helped to make the classes more dynamic and interactive than before; even anyone may upload and download videos from it. As you know Blogger is another example of technological tool very used in Education because it is free and allows anyone to share any kind of information. This can include pictures, videos, even you can be able to add music to you blog. As a conclusion, the use of technology has different purposes that can allow us to support the learning of our students in an interesting and funny way.

Week 11

Last class our teacher taught us a new alternative to keep our electronic portfolios more dynamic. The program that we can use is Cuadernia. It is a program that everyone can download free in internet; even it does not require internet connection at home to work with it. Also, I could learn that it has some useful tools which allow us to add pictures and videos in our portfolios in order to make them look more interactive and entertained. Furthermore, this can be considered a good way to involve your students in order to use technology during their classes. Fortunately, you do not need to be a computer expert to use this program because the manipulation of it does not require an academic preparation. Besides, the use of this program may be used in order to promote care of the environment because if you use it, you will be able to save paper. Then, you may be able to avoid that thousand of thousands of trees will not be cut down every day. That is something really important now because every day there is a lot of rainforest and jungles that are destroyed to get its trees. Furthermore, the use of Cuadernia can get conscious on people to take care of the environment.

Week 10

During the presentation of my classmates I could realize that there are a lot of things that we need to keep in mind when we want to manage a class. First of all, when someone wants to teach a class, that person really needs to show self- confidence. Of course, as teachers we have the work to create self- confidence not only in ourselves, but also in our students. It should be necessary in order to create a good atmosphere where students and teacher can work together in order to achieve the main purpose of the class. In that way students avoid feeling uncomfortable, so the will be able to perform any kind of activity without complication. Also, I could notice that the choice of the activities is really important in order to make students feel motivated; otherwise, they could get bored easily. Obviously, my classmates and I could learn from our own mistakes when we performed those demo classes, but it is important to avoid commit them again. Furthermore, the way how we manage a class can influence in the students` learning. For this reason, we as future teachers need to look for alternatives that can help us to make a different class that everybody can enjoy and learn every single day.

Week 9

I think that the last week was really useful for us because our teacher explained more about how to do a good lesson plan.Fisrt at all; she told us that a lesson plan is a very important document that helps teacher to manage a class in a right way. Also, she said that the objectives are really important because they explain what the teacher expects form his students to achieve at the end of the class. Therefore, it is really necessary to learn how to write good objectives. Here you can check these web pages where they explain that you can use the ABCD method to write a lesson plan:
http://ets.tlt.psu.edu/learningdesign/objectives/writingobjectives
http://www.ion.uillinois.edu/resources/tutorials/id/developObjectives.asp Besides, our teacher taught us how to identify if a lesson plan is good enough by answering some questions. In order to achieve that was necessary to use a rubric that our teacher provided us. Thanks to it we could be able to learn that there are some important things that must be included in a good lesson plan. As for example: one of the most important parts of a lesson plan is the objective. As a conclusion, I think that this class is going to help us a lot because next semester we are going to put in practice everything what we learned in classes and if we know how to make a good lesson plan we will be able to manage a class without complication, so the job will not be so difficult as I thought before.
